Mangrove

Mangrove ecosystems have to be conserved and restored. Mangrove ecosystems are of the outmost importance for people, because of their high marine productivity and immense carbon sequestration capacity, as well as their important ecosystem functions and economic services.

Climate

Climate is a key ecological parameter for ecosystem functioning and restoration. Climate change is a threat to global peace. Science-based knowledge, mitigation and adaptation methods are essential precursors to enable competency-based discussions and decision-making for human survivability.

Plastic

Plastic pollution is a major environmental health dilemma in aquatic, coastal and marine ecosystems. There is no ‘Easy Fix’ to restore these ecosystems. We need to mobilize, raise awareness, improve environmental education and take action in all areas of society, including in UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.

Academies

The academies are physical infrastructures which promote practical and replicable environmental sustainability inside educational-premises. The Academies focus on youth education on the importance of ecosystem services and how to adapt to change. They will be set up in schools, colleges or universities.
