Mangrove ecosystems have to be conserved and restored. Mangrove ecosystems are of the outmost importance for people, because of their high marine productivity and immense carbon sequestration capacity, as well as their important ecosystem functions and economic services.
Climate is a key ecological parameter for ecosystem functioning and restoration. Climate change is a threat to global peace. Science-based knowledge, mitigation and adaptation methods are essential precursors to enable competency-based discussions and decision-making for human survivability.
Plastic pollution is a major environmental health dilemma in aquatic, coastal and marine ecosystems. There is no ‘Easy Fix’ to restore these ecosystems.
